I got a new sewing machine for Christmas. A really nice sewing machine. So now that the holiday hecticness is done, I've had a chance to use it. This scrap quilt was started maybe 2 years ago. My mom made American Girl doll clothes for Meghan 6 or 7 years ago and gave me the scraps. So I figured I'd practice making quilt squares. I made the nine patches and stuffed them in a drawer. Monday was a snow day and I was looking for a sewing project as a kind of refresher and remembered the squares. Et voila! I hand quilted it and need to put a binding on it.

These fabrics were purchased from
Reprodepot.com. I've perused their site for a while but didn't want to invest in any new fabric until I got a new machine. The black and white is to line a bag I knit and felted for my MIL last Christmas (2006). I gave her the bag and promptly took it back to line and hadn't been able to find a lining fabric I liked. So that was a score. The pic with flip-flops reminded me of one of my sisters. I'm thinking I'll maybe make a beach bag for her and line it with that. She's tan all year and loves the beach and pink. Perfect! The Halloween fabric was on sale and I thought it would make nice candy bags for my 3 little girl nieces. We'll see. I have a few months to decide that one.
Tomorrow some knitting updates. Nothing big.
JoAnne, if you read this, I commented on your blog which I found through your comment to me.
